The pop star has announced their own holiday special for the Roku Channel, titled A Very Demi Holiday Special, which will premiere on Dec. 8, 2023. In this exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Demi opened up about their holiday plans, their upcoming documentary Child Star, and their new music in 2024.
Demi said that they wanted to create a holiday special that celebrates joy and music with their “chosen family” of friends and collaborators. They revealed that they will be joined by five celebrities who will help them decorate cakes, make sweaters, dance ballet, and sing along to some of their favorite holiday classics. The guests are actress Tiffany Haddish, musician Jojo, model Hailey Bieber, RuPaul’s Drag Race superstar Trixie Mattel, and the legendary Paris Hilton.
Demi also shared some details about their documentary Child Star, which will be released on Hulu in 2024. The film will explore the experiences of former child stars who grew up in the spotlight and how they navigated fame, family, and mental health. Demi said that they were inspired by their own journey as a child star who struggled with addiction and self-harm before finding healing and happiness.
Demi also talked about their new album REVAMPED, which was released in September 2023. The album features re-recorded versions of some of their biggest hits like “Confident”, “Sorry Not Sorry”, and more in a rock style. Demi said that they wanted to pay homage to the songs that resonated with fans and gave them confidence in themselves.
